During the interview, an experienced recruiter can always determine how honest the applicant was when compiling a resume and whether the regalia mentioned in it are an invention, with which the applicant wants to get the desired position. According to 56% of company representatives, over the course of their work, they have repeatedly had to take clean applicants who have attributed additional professional skills to themselves. In accordance with the observations of employers, young specialists are often cunning about their abilities. Confirmations of the applicants themselves confirm this trend: the number of those who consider such a lie to be completely acceptable is 15% of the total number of respondents and is steadily decreasing with increasing age - from 17% among 20-year-olds to 10% among 50-year-old Russians.
With candidates appropriating the functionality of “their department or colleagues,” 48% of employers encountered. Among applicants, one out of five considers this practice permissible (20%). “Job responsibilities are different everywhere - you can embellish it here”, “If you are a sane and creative person, you can easily prove with your work that you are exactly who you say you are,” they are convinced.
Deliberate inaccuracies regarding work experience were noticed in the resume of applicants for vacancies by 37% of company representatives. Most often, according to them, "job seekers are silent about some places of work." 14% of applicants are ready to ascribe to themselves a non-existent work experience or to hide the “unsuccessful employment experience”. At the same time, some are sure that employers themselves force them to write a lie in the resume: “I believe that it is possible to hide some interruptions in work. Often, the employer himself violates the labor code: does not formalize from the day of the actual admission to work, or does not complete at all. "
About a third of employers (31%) are sure that candidates often exaggerate their level of knowledge of foreign languages. Judging by the results of the survey, young people more often exaggerate their linguistic knowledge than the older generation (11% among 20-year-olds and 6% among 50-year-old Russians). The justifications of the applicants are standard: "Those who work in the embassy abroad or permanently reside there are well aware of the foreign language."
In the era of ubiquitous computerization, candidates often want to appear to be experts in working with PCs. 30% of employers faced facts of exaggeration by applicants on the level of software ownership. 15% of Russians do not see anything wrong with entering the phrase “experienced PC user” in the resume. Women “sin” with such inaccuracies somewhat more often than men (18% versus 13%). In addition, young people (19%) and Russians with a monthly income below 15,000 rubles (26%) are less honest. “The required level of computer skills is easily achieved by practice,” they are convinced.
Another 18% of recruiters said that often they have to deal with resumes that clearly distort the personal data of applicants, for example, age, marital status, etc. To deceive the employer by distorting personal information, 17% of Russians consider it acceptable. At the same time, women are afraid to indicate the presence of young children in the resume, and respondents over 40 years of age - the age, which, in their opinion, may be the reason for the refusal of employment.
