However, this seemingly simple thing is not at all as simple as it seems: worn denim shorts with an uneven edge do not buy in the store, they are made independently.
And here it is important to know what such shorts do not from new jeans, but from worn-out old pairs that are either removed from the bowels of my mother’s closet or bought in vintage stores.
Because this summer, cutoff should not only have soft denim (which becomes so after a long wear and numerous washings), but also the main sign of the 80s is a high waist.
How to make your own cutoffS
To get this effect of stylish negligence, your shorts should not sit tight, so for cutoff they buy jeans that are two sizes larger than yours. If you want a completely authentic result, then look for vintage Levi’s 501 or 505 (you can read more about where to look for them here).
Important: if you want to wear shorts with tucked-up edges, you need a vintage pair (with soft denim) that needs to be cut 5-10 cm below the length that you need in the end.
how to crop
After you have acquired the original pair, you need to trim your shorts correctly. Each will have its own length: if the priest is in excellent condition, then you can cut it directly under the buttocks, but the length to the middle of the thigh will work fine.
And now the important point: the legs are not cut horizontally in a straight line, but at an angle - the inner edge should be slightly lower than the outer edge (the length of the inner seam from the center is about 5-6 cm or 3 inches), if this is not done, then your shorts should the body will bully inward.
Before cropping jeans, lay them on a horizontal surface and draw a trim line with tailor's chalk. Then fasten the legs with pins, and cut 2 cm below the drawn line. Measure: if everything is fine, then cut to the length that you need.
After the jeans are cropped, you can add scuffs or cuts (for example, on pockets), or stretch a few threads from the cropped edge to add character things. If you cut jeans from dark denim and want to keep their color, do not use washing powder, only special denim washing gels or vinegar (washing powder flushes dark pigment from the fabric).
After that, the shorts are washed on a hot cycle so that they sit a little, dried on a flat surface and are worn with pleasure!
